In Geneva, at the building of the General Consulate of Oman, the second stage of indirect negotiations between Iran and the USA regarding the Iranian nuclear program has started. This was reported by the Iranian television channel Press TV on February 17.
The parties, as in previous meetings, will focus on issues related to Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of American sanctions.
"The negotiations will be dedicated to the nuclear issue," noted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei in a comment to journalists before the start of the negotiations.
According to him, the format of the current negotiations is similar to those that took place on February 6 in Muscat, where the delegations exchanged messages through Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi and agreed to continue the dialogue.
The American delegation is led by the special envoy of the US president, Steve Witkoff, while the Iranian side is represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
On the eve of the meeting, Araghchi held discussions with the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, on issues related to the Iranian nuclear program and coordinated upcoming contacts with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi.
