The Smart Control exercises, which took place from February 16 to 18, served as a backdrop for testing the new Sayyad-3G missile, as reported by the Anadolu Agency.

A video released on February 21 shows the missile being launched from the Shahid Sayyad Shirazi ship. This missile is a naval adaptation of the ground-based air defense system Sayyad-3.

It is known that the Sayyad-3G is equipped with a vertical launch system and can hit targets at a distance of up to 150 kilometers. Tehran emphasizes that the new system will create a regional air defense "umbrella" for military ships of the Shahid Soleimani type.

The first version of the Sayyad-3 was tested back in 2016, with a range of 120 kilometers, a length of six meters, and a weight of about 900 kilograms.

The commander of the IRGC Navy, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, previously stated that Iran has the capability to close the Strait of Hormuz if such a decision is made by the country's leadership. He also noted that the weapons used in real conflicts differ from those demonstrated during exercises.

The Smart Control exercises took place against the backdrop of escalating tensions in relations between Iran and the United States, especially after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10-15 day deadline for reaching an agreement on the nuclear program, threatening "tough measures" in the absence of such an agreement.
