The agreement is expected to positively impact the export of meat and meat products, hides, wool, cashmere, and textiles, providing access to a vast market with a population of 180 million people. It will also contribute to the diversification of exports unrelated to the mining sector and support the development of animal husbandry and crop production.
The Ministry of Economy and Development is working on creating a roadmap that will define joint actions with the EAEU member states for the effective implementation of the agreement and maximization of its benefits. This roadmap includes measures related to harmonizing quarantine requirements, protecting animal and plant health, and recognizing laboratory research results, which should facilitate the export process.
To implement the temporary trade agreement, the Ministry of Economy and Development held an informational and consultative meeting for representatives of the meat processing industry. At the meeting, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Development, Batkhüü Idésh, the Executive Director of the Mongolian Meat Producers Association, Batsuuri Nantsag, and exporters discussed the current situation, challenges, and prospects of the sector.
Representatives from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the Main Customs Administration, the Main Veterinary Service Administration, the Agency for Standardization and Metrology, as well as exporting companies also participated in the meeting. Participants discussed key aspects and opportunities for meat export to the Eurasian market.
Among the five EAEU member states, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have already ratified the agreement, while Kyrgyzstan and Armenia have submitted it for consideration by their parliaments.
