In Mexico, a farewell ceremony was held for Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as El Mencho, the head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). This was reported by Formula.

The ceremony took place at the Recinto de la Paz cemetery, located in the municipality of Zapopan, where his remains were placed in a golden coffin. At noon, a column of cars with a white hearse arrived at the burial site, and the hearse itself was adorned with a luxurious composition of red roses shaped like a rooster, symbolizing Oseguera Cervantes's passion for cockfighting, for which he earned the nickname Señor de los Gállegos.

The procession was accompanied by orchestral music, and it was attended by close friends and relatives of the deceased.

Security measures in the cemetery area were significantly heightened: personnel from the National Guard, army, and police were on duty, and checkpoints were established along the procession route.

According to media reports, this cemetery also contains the graves of relatives of another well-known drug lord — Rafael Caro Quintero, the founder of the Guadalajara Cartel.

The body of El Mencho was handed over to his family by the Mexican Attorney General's Office after all necessary procedures were completed, including confirming kinship through genetic testing.

El Mencho sustained a fatal wound on February 22 during a federal forces operation in Tapalpa. In response, members of his cartel caused unrest in Jalisco and other regions of the country.
