Fragments of a meteorite fell on residential houses in Germany

In the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate in southwestern Germany, an incident occurred involving the fall of meteorite fragments, which damaged several houses. One of the fragments pierced the roof of a residential building in Koblenz, but fortunately, no one was injured, as reported by local media.

On the evening of March 8, residents in several areas of the west of the country witnessed a bright fireball, after which emergency services received numerous calls about damages. The police confirmed that destruction was observed in the regions of Hunsrück and Eifel, as well as in Koblenz.

In the Güls district of Koblenz, around 7:00 PM local time, a meteorite fragment pierced the roof of one of the houses, leaving a hole the size of a football. People inside remained unharmed.

According to civil protection services, witnesses described a bright flash and a loud explosion. The police also confirmed that there is no threat to residents, and it is believed that these are fragments of a meteorite that disintegrated upon entering the atmosphere.
