On January 8, a powerful explosion occurred on the Sun, as reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory.
According to researchers, significant material ejections were recorded in the middle of the day, scattering in different directions. The source of this phenomenon was located on the far side of the Sun, which cannot currently be observed by satellites.
Two weeks ago, when this invisible side was facing Earth, astronomers did not notice anything unusual, just a few medium-sized active regions.
It is assumed that if the explosion was caused by one of them, then judging by the direction of the ejection, it occurred in a group of sunspots located below the equator on the right side of the visible solar disk (the group is numbered 4321 in the catalog).
The location of the explosion will only be visible in about a week, when the group of spots begins to appear on the eastern horizon, scientists reported.
