On the morning of December 12, a solar prominence of significant size detached from the star. This was reported by specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Institute of Space Research and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to the scientists, the process of solar plasma separation lasted about a day and began around noon the day before. Astronomers noted that it took approximately 24 hours to "untangle" the complex structure consisting of matter and magnetic fields at the edge of the Sun.

Experts emphasized that this phenomenon will have no impact on Earth and will also not affect comet 3I/ATLAS, which, according to preliminary calculations, will be near our planet on December 19.
