The program, named Solar Sharer, will be implemented in regions such as New South Wales, South Australia, and parts of Queensland. These areas make up the most densely populated part of the country in the southeast. Consumers will be able to take advantage of free electricity during peak hours, when solar energy production reaches its maximum, primarily in the middle of the day.
The idea is that the surplus electricity generated during peak hours will help reduce overall electricity costs for Australians by optimizing consumption throughout the day.
