According to the new master plan, Bishkek will develop with an emphasis on high-rise construction. The residential complexes under construction are already being connected to existing engineering networks, which suggests a significant increase in electricity consumption in the future.
“We emphasize the need for economical use of electricity. There are measures that will help reduce consumption, but to fully address the problem, it is necessary to develop electricity generation, which is relevant not only for Bishkek but for the entire country,” the mayor noted.
Currently, the Ministry of Energy is actively working to create conditions for ensuring the necessary volume of electricity generation, both for the capital and for the regions. It should be noted that the CHP is under the city's jurisdiction.
“Starting from December 1, our first waste processing plant will begin supplying electricity to the grid, but we still need additional capacity to cover peak loads,” Junushaliev added. Moreover, the new master plan and city development take all these issues into account,” he noted.
It is worth reminding that the construction of the waste processing plant is in the final stages, and its opening is scheduled for December 26, 2025. On November 14, the first batch of solid household waste for processing arrived at the plant.
