A powerful magnetic storm will hit Earth

According to information provided by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a powerful magnetic storm is expected on November 7, which will be the strongest of this year.

On this day, Earth will encounter a large coronal hole, which will be accompanied by the arrival of two plasma clouds. These clouds resulted from significant solar flares recorded two days ago. Scientists have designated November 7 as the day with the most significant geomagnetic challenges of the current year.

It is already observed that Earth has begun to enter the plasma stream from the coronal hole. "The near-Earth space has already started to show disturbances caused by yesterday's magnetic storms," noted specialists from IKI RAS. Additionally, experts recorded that the magnetic storms may soon reach category G3, indicating strong geomagnetic phenomena.

"Preliminary models show that the most powerful parts of the solar ejecta are likely to pass by our planet, which will help avoid serious consequences," added Russian scientists. Thus, today the magnetic storms should not exceed level G4 on the 5-point scale.
