Reuters: American intelligence sees no signs of regime collapse in Iran after nearly two weeks of strikes

According to expert opinions, "numerous" intelligence reports indicate that the Iranian regime continues to maintain control over its population.

Israeli officials have also expressed doubts about the possibility of a change of power in Iran through military action, as reported by a senior Israeli official during a closed meeting with media representatives.

It is unclear how exactly the U.S.-Israeli military operation could overthrow the current regime in Iran, Reuters notes. One of the agency's sources suggested that ground intervention might be necessary to achieve this goal.

Since February 28, the U.S. and Israel have begun striking targets in Iran. In response, Tehran attacked Israel and those countries it considers allies of Washington. As a result of an Israeli airstrike on the same day, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed, after which his son Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed the new spiritual leader of the country.

According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump informed his advisors that he would support the elimination of Mojtaba Khamenei if he was not willing to make concessions. In public statements, Trump claimed that he should be involved in appointing a new leader of Iran after the "unconditional surrender" of the country.
