Iran is not asking for a ceasefire or negotiations, - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

In an interview, Araghchi also noted that Iran has not requested either a ceasefire or the start of negotiations. “We are ready to defend our interests for as long as necessary,” he added, pointing out that the conflict is a result of an “illegal war,” in which, in his opinion, victory is impossible.- U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is not ready for a deal with Iran at this time. Did you request a ceasefire?

- We have never made such requests. We will defend ourselves until Trump realizes that this war is unlawful.

- Is the Strait of Hormuz closed? What can you say to countries concerned about the safety of shipping?

- We are open to dialogue with those states that wish to discuss the safe passage of their vessels. I cannot name specific countries, but several of them have already approached us with requests for the protection of their shipping.

Our military has already made a decision regarding the safe passage of a group of vessels, and we will ensure their safety, as we have never closed this strait.

- Your drones and missiles are attacking neighboring countries — U.S. allies. How do you plan to restore relations after the war?

- These states have provided the U.S. with their territories to attack us. We cannot remain inactive while American forces attack us from their bases.

Araghchi also stated that Iran's nuclear facilities are “currently in ruins,” and at this moment “there is neither a program nor plans for their restoration.” He added that during negotiations on the nuclear deal, Iran proposed to “reduce the level of enriched uranium,” which was a “significant concession.” However, the current conflict has changed the situation: “At present, there is nothing on the table; everything depends on the future,” he emphasized. “This war is a personal choice of President Trump and the U.S., and we will continue to defend ourselves,” the minister concluded.
