Abbas Araghchi noted that the "bitter experience" of communication with the US leaves no room for new attempts at dialogue. He pointed to the incident in June of last year when, despite ongoing negotiations, American forces attacked Iran. "This year they tried to convince us that the situation had changed and they were striving for a peaceful resolution of the nuclear issue. We agreed to negotiations, but after three rounds, when the American side itself acknowledged progress, they struck," the minister added.
Araghchi also expressed the opinion that the US and Israel had hoped to change the regime in Iran in a short time but failed and now lack a clear strategy. He accused Washington and Tel Aviv of rising oil prices and emphasized that Iran's actions, including strikes on targets in other countries, are aimed at defending against aggression.
"This war has been imposed on us. We are under attack, and the only response is defense," noted the Iranian foreign minister.
When asked how the authorities view the protests, Araghchi stated that the majority of the Iranian population supports the government and the armed forces, expressing discontent with the aggression against the country: "The people, the overwhelming majority, are outraged by this aggression and support our armed forces. Iranian flags can be seen everywhere on the streets..."
