Iran launched ballistic missiles at a military base in the Indian Ocean

According to American media outlets such as CNN and The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in the government, two missiles were launched from Iran, but neither reached its target.

Diego Garcia is located about 3,800 kilometers from Iran. CNN reports that this is the first instance of Iran using missiles of this range since the beginning of the conflict. At the same time, The Wall Street Journal emphasizes that Iranian authorities previously claimed that the maximum range of their missiles is 2,000 kilometers.

The military base on Diego Garcia Atoll was established in the 1970s and has been actively used by aviation, particularly during the war with Iran.
