Victor Orban noted that "as long as Ukraine does not resume oil supplies, gas will not be coming from Hungary." He emphasized the importance of protecting the country's energy security, maintaining regulated gasoline prices, and reduced gas tariffs. A corresponding video was posted on his social media, where he voiced his statement.
In his address, Orban stated that this is his "final offer," as Ukraine has been blocking the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline for 30 days. He also added that Hungary will gradually reduce gas supply volumes and direct the released resources to its storage facilities.
In recent weeks, Hungary has insisted that Ukraine repair the section of the Druzhba pipeline that runs through its territory and supplies Budapest with Russian oil. In this regard, Hungary has blocked the allocation of a European loan of 90 billion dollars to Kyiv, accusing Ukraine of deliberately suspending oil supplies.
It is worth recalling that in mid-February, Hungary had already suspended diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine for the same reason — the stoppage of the Druzhba pipeline. Slovakia also made a similar decision, as it receives Russian oil. During the same period, Hungary threatened to stop exporting electricity and natural gas.
