According to information, Noelia's parents had issues with drug addiction, lost their home, and separated. For 12 years, she lived in shelters. After reaching adulthood, she was given a place in a social center, where in 2022 she became a victim of gang rape. This event led to several suicide attempts, one of which resulted in serious injury — she fell from a window and became paralyzed.
Noelia described her body as a "prison" that constantly reminded her of what she had endured. In 2024, unable to bear either physical or mental pain, she applied for euthanasia, which has been legalized in the country since 2021.Euthanasia was carried out on March 26 at a medical center in the town of Sant Pere de Ribes in Catalonia. The girl had previously stated that she did not want to see her loved ones at the time of the procedure.
“I told my family that they could come to say goodbye, but not at the moment when I would be given the injection. I don’t want anyone to be nearby, I don’t want them to see me close my eyes,” Noelia's words are quoted by El Pais.
