Caring for compatriots living outside the homeland has always been an important part of Mongolian culture, especially when it comes to children. The opening of the camp serves as a vivid example of this tradition.

The summer camp for Mongolian children has started its activities in Tsukuba, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. This event was covered by MiddleAsianNews.

As part of the "Asian Camp of Mongolian Language and Culture 2026," organized by the Mongolian Children's Home, Mongolian children living in Japan will be able to spend three days and two nights in traditional Mongolian gers (yurts). The camp will have a ban on smartphones and screens, lessons in national songs and dances, tasting Mongolian cuisine, participating in a mini-naadam, and communicating in their native language.

The camp, which opened on March 29, gathered 33 children aged 6 to 14, representing branches of the Mongolian Children's Center from Tokyo, Tsukuba, Niigata, and Osaka. This is the first summer event organized by the palace, which has been hosting activities for Mongolian children in Japan for four years, aimed at familiarizing them with their culture and language.

Nine educators are working at the camp, including eight Mongolians and one Japanese, as well as five support staff. Consultants will include Gerelmaa Jamsranjav, a researcher at the National Institute for Educational Research of Mongolia, and Önörcetzeg, a teacher from South Korea.

The camp is sponsored by the "Ibaraki YMCA," and "Mongolian Theme Park Japan" provided safe conditions for the participants.

A representative of the Mongolian Children's Home reported that they have plans to expand the "Asian Camp" program to other countries in Asia, including South Korea and Taiwan.
