Shagdar Sosor, nicknamed "Bosoo" (which translates to "invincible"), was awarded the title of State Lion in Mongolian wrestling. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.

The legendary wrestler was born in 1888 in the Erdene Düüreg sum, which belongs to the Zasagt Khan aimag. This area is now part of the Bayankhairkhan sum in the Zavkhan aimag, known as Burdiiin Yolt.

Shagdar's wrestling career began in 1913 when he managed to defeat the famous champion Vandan Galsankhuu from the Luu Gun sum of the Sain Noyon Khan aimag at the Great Naadam of Maidari in the Khüree of Tes. At that time, the Tes Khüree occupied a vast territory that included 6 aimags, 17 datsans, a total of 29 temples, and about 1500 monks.

From that moment on, Shagdar achieved victories for 13 consecutive years, earning him the nickname "Bosoo".

At the 1924 Naadam, Shagdar defeated another legendary wrestler, also named "Bosoo", Samdan Ganjuurjav from Khan-Khentii. This competition featured 674 wrestlers, and Shagdar received the state title of Lion. Samdan Ganjuurjav, born in 1899 in the Bayankhutag sum of the Khentii aimag, was known for his strong physique and athleticism from a young age.

The stone weighing 614 kg that Shagdar lifted is located in the Tsagaan-Uul sum of the Khövsgöl aimag, where he spent the last years of his life.
