Mongolian Border Guards Detain "Border-Crossing Bear" That Crossed the Border from the Russian Side

In Mongolia, in the Khangjit-Bag area, located in the Tes sum of the Uvs province, border service employees detained a brown bear that crossed the border from Russia. The animal was handed over to the Administration for the Protection of the Specially Protected Area of Khan-Khentii.


The team responsible for capturing the bear spent more than 20 days on its capture. Successfully luring the animal into a trap set in the Tooromt area, specialists conducted anesthesia and collected necessary data, including measurements and analyses.


After that, the brown bear was delivered to the Administration for the Protection of the Specially Protected Area of Khan-Khentii, where it will spend the winter period, and in the spring of 2026, it is planned to return it to its natural habitat.
