In the Rostov region, FSB officers detained three citizens of Uzbekistan who are suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in a correctional colony. This was reported by the regional office of the special service.

According to the agency, the detainees are from Central Asia and were planning a terrorist act on the territory of the penitentiary institution. A criminal case has been opened against them under two articles: 30 - "Attempted crime" and 205 - "Terrorist act" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As law enforcement agencies found out, the inmates serving their sentences developed a plan to take hostages among the colony staff and to set fire to buildings. However, they did not manage to carry out their intentions and were detained.

During searches in their cells, various makeshift weapons were discovered and seized, as well as fabric pieces with images resembling the flag of a terrorist organization and mobile devices containing content related to terrorist activities.
