Currently, discussions are underway in the USA, Iran, and among a group of mediators regarding the terms of a 45-day ceasefire, which could be the first step towards a permanent end to the conflict. Sources from Axios report that this is the "last chance" to avoid further escalation of the situation.

According to information provided by the interlocutors, US President Donald Trump has decided to extend the ultimatum for Iran, which originally lasted 10 days, by an additional 20 hours. In an interview with Axios, he noted that the USA is engaged in "deep negotiations" with the Iranian side and expressed hope for the possibility of reaching an agreement: "The chances are good, but if they don't go for a deal, I'll blow everything up," he added.

The negotiations are being facilitated by Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, and are also taking place through text messages between US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The discussions include a two-step agreement that encompasses a 45-day ceasefire with the possibility of extension, after which negotiations for a complete cessation of hostilities will begin.

The mediators are confident that a final agreement could ensure the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz and address issues related to Iran's highly enriched uranium.
