Israel has announced that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has been killed. He is said to be responsible for blocking the Strait of Hormuz.

Alireza Tangsiri.
According to Katz, Tangrisi was "directly responsible for the terrorist operation," which involved mining and blocking the Strait of Hormuz, creating difficulties for maritime traffic.

According to Israeli military information, the strike on Tangrisi was carried out during a meeting of high-ranking IRGC commanders in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.

The head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense emphasized that this operation is a "message" to the IRGC, adding: "The Israel Defense Forces will hunt you down and eliminate you one by one."

After the conflict began on February 28, when the U.S. and Israel commenced military actions against Iran, Tehran blocked the Strait of Hormuz, launching attacks on vessels passing through it. Since the start of the conflict, at least 22 vessels have been attacked. As a result, about 3,200 ships found themselves in the Persian Gulf, avoiding crossing the Strait of Hormuz out of safety concerns. The U.S. President issued an ultimatum to Iran demanding the unblocking of the strait, and on March 25, Tehran reported that it had opened it to "non-hostile" vessels.

The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf to the open ocean, is a key route for raw material supplies from the Middle East: nearly 35% of the world's crude oil supplies and about 20% of liquefied natural gas pass through it.
