In its message on platform X, Qatar Energy confirmed that the missile strike occurred in the early hours of March 19, resulting in a serious fire and significant damage. However, according to the company, there were no casualties among people.
The Ministry of Interior of Qatar later also reported on network X that all fires at the energy complex in Ras Laffan had been localized and no injuries were recorded.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Interior, work is ongoing at the site to restore safety and cooling. Special units are engaged in the safe handling of hazardous materials.
On the eve, Iran announced an attack on the South Pars gas field, after which the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened strikes on the energy facilities of other countries in the Persian Gulf.
As a result, there was shelling of Ras Laffan in Qatar, which is the largest liquefied natural gas production cluster in the world, and "significant damage" was inflicted on the Pearl GTL facility, which processes gas.
In response to these actions, Qatar declared the military attaché and security attaché at the Iranian embassy as persona non grata and demanded their immediate departure from the country. President Trump promised that further Israeli attacks on the South Pars field would not occur if Iran did not make an "unjustified decision" to attack completely innocent Qatar. In such a case, he stated, the U.S. would strike the field with a force that Iran had never experienced before.
