The victim, A. G., contacted law enforcement with a complaint that the criminals, posing as employees of the National Bank, tricked him into transferring 974,200 soms via the WhatsApp messenger.
In connection with this incident, the investigative authorities of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case under Article 209-1 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, which pertains to the intentional provision or sale of electronic payment means, virtual wallets, and SIM cards to third parties.
The police urge citizens and guests of the capital to be cautious: participation in so-called "dropper" schemes and assisting criminals in obtaining bank cards may lead to criminal liability under Kyrgyzstan's legislation.
