According to the information, the actions taken by the special services were part of a comprehensive program for counterintelligence activities aimed at protecting citizens and strategically important facilities in Azerbaijan.

According to the SSS, the perpetrators targeted key infrastructure facilities and representatives of religious groups in the country. Among the potential victims mentioned are the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, the Israeli embassy, the leader of the mountain Jews community, and the Ashkenazi synagogue.

As a result of the investigation, it was established that three explosive devices were brought into the territory of Azerbaijan. The SSS managed to prevent their transfer to third parties, which helped avoid possible casualties and destruction.

“As a result of the operational actions carried out by our service, it was possible to prevent terrorist acts. Citizens of Azerbaijan, such as Guliyev Tarkhan Tarlan oglu, Agaev Nijat Zaman oglu, Abdullayev Asad Tofiq oglu, and Rustamov Rashad Farhad oglu, were sentenced to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment. In addition, Shabanova Narmina Ramiz gizi and Ismiev Naib Agaismi oglu were held criminally liable for preparing an assassination attempt on a public figure, while Akhmedov Elvin Bakhruz oglu was charged with illegal possession of weapons and explosives. They were placed in custody as a preventive measure,” the SSS reported.
