In the Batken region, two died and one was rescued after a gas leak in a mine

A tragic incident occurred in the Batken region due to a gas leak in a mine, resulting in the deaths of two people, while one miner was successfully rescued. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the information received, the incident took place on March 7 at the mine of "Batken Munay" LLC, located in the village of Samarkandek in the Batken district. Three people were underground at a depth of about 200 meters.

Thirteen employees of the Mountain Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were dispatched to the scene, where they conducted an operation to extract the victims. Rescuers were able to retrieve the bodies of the two deceased and hand them over to law enforcement officials. The third miner was found alive and handed over to a medical emergency team.

In addition, 18 mine workers who suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning sought medical assistance at the Batken District Hospital. According to doctors, their condition is assessed as satisfactory.

After completing the search and rescue operations, the rescuers installed a barrier at a depth of 40 meters in the mine and returned to their base.
