During the night in Bishkek, in the 'Bakay-Ata' residential area, the bodies of two children were found who had gone missing — a nine-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy.
The children's parents had previously sought help on social media, stating that their children went out to play around 5:00 PM and did not return home. Neighbors, relatives, and local residents immediately responded to the search.
At 9:00 PM, police and emergency services arrived at the scene to begin search and rescue operations. By midnight, the bodies of the children were discovered in one of the nearby bodies of water. According to preliminary data, the cause of their death was drowning.
Local residents note that the children often visited this body of water, including for ice skating. It is also mentioned that the body of water was previously used as a waste dump, which may pose additional dangers to children.
Law enforcement agencies continue to work at the scene of the tragedy. Expert examinations have been appointed, and the circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated, with a preliminary inquiry underway.
Police officers urge parents to be especially vigilant about their children's safety and not to leave them unattended, especially near potentially dangerous areas.
