Last night in the Orekhovo-Borisovo area in southern Moscow, a terrible event occurred: unknown individuals attacked traffic patrol officers. As a result of the explosion of a service vehicle, two people were killed, and two others sustained serious injuries, according to Russian media.
Chronology of the incident
The explosion occurred at 1:30 AM (4:30 AM Bishkek time) on Yeletskaya Street. It is believed that the criminals threw an improvised explosive device into the window of a Skoda patrol car. Eyewitnesses claim that the sound of the explosion was heard from a considerable distance.
A witness told the Telegram channel SHOT that 15 minutes before the explosion, he noticed a suspicious man in a mask and hood inspecting parked cars as if waiting for the right moment. After the explosion, two people quickly fled the scene.
Results and consequences of the incident
As a result of the explosion, two inspectors died on the spot from severe shrapnel injuries. Two other victims were urgently taken to the hospital, and their condition is assessed as critical.
Actions of investigative authorities
At the scene of the incident, the following are working:
- investigators and forensic experts from the Investigative Committee;
- dog handlers with dogs to search for possible remaining explosive devices;
- EMERCOM employees.
Specialists are examining recordings from surveillance cameras and intercoms, as well as collecting fragments. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case, and a manhunt for the suspects has been announced in Moscow.
Just two days ago, a similar incident occurred in the same area, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov of the Armed Forces of Russia.
