
Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, who headed the Operational Training Department of the Armed Forces of Russia, was killed as a result of a jeep explosion in the capital. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, he died in a medical facility.
According to their information, the explosive device that caused the tragedy had a power of about 300 grams in TNT equivalent. Residents of nearby houses, located two blocks from the scene, heard a loud explosion.
Preliminary data suggests that the explosive device was installed under the chassis of a Kia Sorento and detonated shortly after the vehicle began moving.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 105 and 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, concerning murder by dangerous means and illegal handling of explosives. There is a version that Ukrainian special services may be involved in this explosion.
General Sarvarov was awarded state honors, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland I class. In 2024, he received the rank of lieutenant general and participated in the Ossetian-Ingush conflict, as well as fought in Syria. Since 2016, he had held the position of head of the Operational Training Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
