In the center of the Jumgal district of the Naryn region, in the village of Chayek, a meeting of delegates from the People's Kurultai took place, during which issues of ecology and the condition of pastures were discussed, reports Turmush correspondent.

More than 40 delegates from various localities gathered at the district administration for the meeting. They elected a chairperson, members of the working group, and a counting commission to prepare for the upcoming People's Kurultai in Bishkek. During the discussions, proposals were presented for amending the charter of the Chayek rural administration, and a report from the local administration was heard.

Among the main issues raised at the meeting was the need to take action against the owners of private coal storage facilities located near the district center due to their negative impact on the environment. Residents insisted on holding accountable those who destroy pastures and closing coal storage facilities that pollute nature.

Villager Alma Abakirova noted that in the Shorton area, near the racetrack and park, a situation has developed comparable to a "second deposit of Kara-Keche." Every day, trucks carrying coal pass through the village streets, raising dust and polluting the air. Traces of coal waste remain on the pastures, threatening the health of both people and livestock.
According to Fridon Moldokeev, the pastures have practically ceased to be suitable for grazing livestock. Lands are leased to private individuals for small amounts of money, causing harm to the ecology. He believes that private coal storage facilities should be closed immediately.

“In the village of Chayek, 5-6 people have leased pasture lands for the placement of private coal bases. To date, none of them operate in accordance with established requirements, and some do not even pay taxes.

Owners of private storage facilities purchase coal from drivers leaving Kara-Keche at 4800 soms per ton and resell it on-site to residents of the Jalal-Abad and Osh regions at a price of 6500–6800 soms,” local residents said.
