As part of the reform related to the transition to 12-year education, new textbooks have been developed, which, as Daniyar Ashymov, the chief editor of the state institution "Publishing House 'Okuu Kitabi'", noted, feature an engaging approach. In an interview on "Birinchi Radio," he shared details about these changes.

According to Ashymov, before starting work, training sessions were held where employees of the "Marshal Cavendish" publishing house explained the specifics of their materials. "We attracted the best educators and experts as editors to adapt and translate the content. The process of preparing textbooks requires significant time. In our practice, we had no experience in implementing a complete range of textbooks from 1st to 12th grade, for example, in mathematics. It was not easy, but we managed, and schools have already started receiving the first copies," he added.

Ashymov emphasized that education is always a complex process. "Children, especially first graders, require a lot of time and energy to engage them in learning. Our task is to hold their attention," he noted. The new textbooks, according to him, offer interesting topics that will be repeated annually until the 7th or 8th grade. Some criticize the complexity of the first grades, but this is done to introduce children to serious topics in an accessible language, which helps develop competencies. A deeper study of these topics will occur in the second grade and beyond, where information will expand each year.

In the current academic year, 2025/2026, students in the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 7th grades have transitioned to the 12-year program in Kyrgyzstan, for which new textbooks have been prepared. In 2025, 744 million soms have been allocated from the state budget for printing educational materials.
