In the Batken region, in the city of Kyzyl-Kiya, local residents are facing a serious problem — they are provided with clean water for only two hours every two days. This information was announced by Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 25.

“Every citizen of Kyrgyzstan has the right to access clean drinking water. However, in Kyzyl-Kiya, there is virtually no water. Every two days we receive water for only two hours. This is completely unacceptable for a large city. What measures do you plan to take? Have you allocated funds to address this issue?” the deputy noted.

Azamat Shadmanov, the director of the state institution “Development of Drinking Water Supply and Sewerage,” confirmed that water supplies in Kyzyl-Kiya are indeed limited.

He also added that within the framework of the first phase of the project to improve water supply in the city, only 30% of the residents' needs have been met.

“At the moment, the city hall is developing a budget. Last year we talked about the need for around 700 million soms, but now the amount has increased to over 1 billion soms, as the water source is located 25 kilometers from the city,” Shadmanov explained.

He also mentioned that the government will be looking for investors to implement this project.
