In Osh, starting from February 2025, under the pretext of losing biofunctional properties, many trees were cut down. The question of what happened to the felled trees and what funds were obtained from their sale has become the focus of the Greening and Landscaping Combine.

According to information provided by Azamat Sovetbekov, the head of the combine, a significant portion of the felled trees was located on Kurmanjan-Datka Street. The city council approved the cutting down of 1,430 trees along this street. Preparatory work began at the end of 2024, and the actual cutting started in February 2025.

Independent experts were engaged to assess the wood, classifying it into three groups:

- Trees suitable for construction materials (5%) — mainly plane trees, valued at 7,500 soms per cubic meter.
- 1st grade trees — 4,000 soms per cubic meter.
- 2nd grade trees (suitable only for firewood) — 2,500 soms per cubic meter.

According to the appraisers' conclusion, most of the felled trees were found unsuitable for construction. Maples and ashes were often rotten and could only be used as firewood. According to unofficial data, about 65% of the wood was classified as 2nd grade and sold at a price of 2,500 soms.

Azamat Sovetbekov reported that the total income from the sale of wood could exceed 1 million soms. Since the beginning of February 2025, over 680,000 soms have been received in the budget from firewood sales, and a total of about 700,000 soms has entered the combine's cash register. Almost half of the wood is still stored in the nursery, and some citizens believe that the prices set by the appraisers are too high, causing them to refuse to purchase. However, forecasts suggest that the total income from the felled trees should exceed 1 million soms.

In 2025, the Greening Combine received about 200 requests from citizens, most of whom asked for free firewood. Firewood was provided free of charge to low-income families, kindergartens, and schools.

One truck of the "Shakhman" type can carry 2–3 cubic meters of firewood, which is loaded in a mixed form (large, medium, and split). The wood was sold to the combine's employees at a price of 600–700 soms per truck.

However, not all trees that were cut down in the city were accounted for by the combine. Some contracting organizations, carrying out road works with the permission of environmental authorities, independently felled trees on certain streets based on acts from territorial administrations.

Additionally, there were cases where residents of the On-Adyr districts and the outskirts of the city arbitrarily cut down trees that interfered with road construction. Due to the inability to cover all areas, the combine operated in this format.

Local residents express doubts about the justification for the cutting, claiming that not all trees that were felled truly lost their biofunctional properties. In some cases, they say, young trees were also cut down during road expansion. Preliminary data indicates that in 2025, over 5,000 trees were felled in Osh due to road expansion and other construction works.
