As of today, the construction of the Orto-Tokoy Hydroelectric Power Station is 80% complete. This project aims to ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity supply in the country.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the work is being carried out according to the established schedule. The 950-meter-long diversion tunnel has been fully completed, and its reinforcement with concrete is currently ongoing. The preparation and reinforcement of the soil in the area of the tunnel branching has also been completed, and the walls of the chamber have already been constructed. Specialists are preparing for the installation of a tunnel interchange with three exits, two of which already have metal structures installed.

The construction of the hydroelectric power station building itself is at the final stage — it is 90% complete. All three hydro turbines and disc gates have already been installed, and the roof frame has been assembled. Currently, roofing work and other construction stages are being completed.

The project is being implemented by JSC "Chakan HPP". The expected capacity of the Orto-Tokoy HPP will be 21 megawatts, and the completion of construction is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

It should be noted that the government approved the project for the construction of the Orto-Tokoy HPP in July 2021, and the contract for its implementation was signed on March 24, 2023. Construction work began in June 2024.
According to calculations, the capacity of the Orto-Tokoy HPP will be able to supply electricity to approximately 15,000 to 18,000 households, depending on the level of consumption.
