The film "Kurak" has been included in the official program of the XXII International Third Eye Asian Film Festival, which is taking place in Mumbai, India. This was reported by the Film Development Fund.

This year, Kyrgyzstan has been announced as the focus country of the festival, and as part of a special curatorial program, five films from this country are being presented, including "Kurak," which has been selected for screenings in the main program.

Director Erke Jumakmatova created "Kurak," which has become the largest international co-production in Central Asia in terms of the number of participating countries: Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, Serbia, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy. The film tells three interconnected stories of women suffering from violence and lawlessness in modern Kyrgyzstan.

The creation of the film was made possible thanks to the support of the Cinematography Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic. This is the first such experience for the national cinema, opening new horizons for Kyrgyz directors.
