The International Student Film Festival "Peace to the World!" Opened at KNU

As part of the Institute of Journalism and Communication of KNU, the grand opening of the international student film festival "Peace to the World!" took place, dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Victory.

The festival encompasses a wide range of participants: the program features works by students from countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and Tajikistan. This important event aims to convey historical memory through the art of cinema and promote cultural exchange.

At the opening ceremony, Shirin Kostiuk, the director of the Institute, emphasized the significance of cinema in highlighting the topic of war from a human and moral perspective.

Ekaterina Chistova, the advisor-envoy of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, noted that the Great Victory unites peoples and underscored the importance of cultural dialogue.

Alexander Izmailov, assistant to a deputy of the State Duma of Russia and director of the organization "Georgy Pobedonosec," in his address to the festival participants spoke about the significance of public initiatives in preserving historical memory.

The famous Russian actor Igor Petrenko, who became an honorary guest of the festival, shared his thoughts on the importance of cinema in preserving historical heritage. He emphasized the importance of conveying truthful information about the past in the context of modern information distortions.

During the opening, Igor Petrenko met with the rector of KNU, Dokdurbek Chontoев. The rector stated the significance of the festival, emphasizing that peace is one of humanity's most important values, and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory is an undeniable historical heritage. He expressed gratitude to the guests and noted that cinema remains a powerful tool for preserving historical memory.

The actor, visiting Kyrgyzstan for the first time, expressed his joy at the visit and noted that the university should serve not only as a center of knowledge but also as a space for the development of art.

The festival, which contributes to the development of cinema, strengthens KNU's cultural platform and creates conditions for students to familiarize themselves with global trends in the field of film art.

Thus, the international film festival "Peace to the World!" continues its important mission of preserving historical heritage, creating cultural connections, and supporting student creativity.
