Reduce Road Accidents. 306 Hardware-Software Complexes Will Be Installed in Kyrgyzstan
Since 2019, 110 such complexes have been installed in Bishkek and the Chui region as part of the "Safe City" project, which records traffic violations.
As part of the second phase of the program, scheduled for 2026, an additional 306 hardware and software points will be installed in the country. Currently, equipment is already operational at the intersection of Akhunbaev and Toktonaliev streets, as well as Botaliev and Young Guard, where serious violations such as crossing into oncoming traffic are recorded. The "Hurricane" complexes on Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue monitor compliance with speed limits and the use of seat belts. The system is constantly evolving, and new methods of monitoring violations are being implemented, aimed at reducing road traffic accidents, noted Rahim Sasaza.
According to the inspector, the main violation among drivers is speeding. The maximum allowed speed in the city is 60 kilometers per hour, while outside the city it is 90. There are no highways in the country, so a speed of 110 kilometers per hour is not permitted.
It was also previously reported about the implementation of average speed control on roads in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov stated that the system is being tested on the section of the Bishkek — Tokmok road, where special cameras have been installed.
The main goal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to assess the effectiveness of a mechanism that takes into account compliance with speed limits over the entire control section of the road, not just near the cameras, which should help reduce the number of accidents and save lives.
