In 2025, around 900 fatal accidents were recorded
In Kyrgyzstan, approximately 900 road traffic accidents occurred in 2025, resulting in the deaths of 121 children. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.
According to Urmambetov, more than 80 cases of fatal road accidents were caused by drivers under the influence of alcohol. Analysis showed that the main cause of these tragedies remains driving while intoxicated, followed by crossing into oncoming traffic and speeding.
“We are constantly strengthening measures of responsibility and sanctions for driving under the influence, as well as revoking the driver's licenses of offenders. Nevertheless, the number of people getting behind the wheel while intoxicated continues to rise,” noted the deputy minister.
He added that to minimize corruption risks, employees responsible for road safety use body-worn cameras.
