An annual working group was held at the Ministry of Defense in Koi-Tash, with participation from representatives of the U.S. Central Command, including the Air Force Central Command and the Montana National Guard, as well as the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan. This event is aimed at discussing military contacts for the 2027 fiscal year, reports the press service of the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

As noted by the press service, this meeting is a key element of military cooperation and serves as a foundation for developing partnership plans for the upcoming year.

Over the course of two days, participants will focus on detailed planning of exchange activities and will define joint goals and objectives. Their efforts will be directed towards achieving common regional goals, which in turn will strengthen security and stability in Kyrgyzstan.

Deputy Chief of Mission Liz Zentos, in her opening remarks, emphasized that the cooperation between the Montana National Guard and various ministries of Kyrgyzstan, including the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Border Service, has been ongoing for 30 years. Since the start of the partnership in 1996, strong and reliable relationships have been established based on trust and mutual interests.

She also added, “We look forward to the opportunity to enhance and adapt our military contact plans for 2026 and 2027. This event is of significant importance for achieving mutual understanding and finding common ground.”

Thus, the ongoing exchanges of experience and joint efforts underscore the commitment of the U.S. and Kyrgyzstan to ensuring regional stability and security.
