The head of the department at NCODM shared the news
After the recent visit of the Minister of Health to the pediatric oncology department of NCODM, all tests for C-reactive protein and procalcitonin for young patients are now provided free of charge and without delays. The head of the department, Sultan Stambekov, spoke about this in an interview with "Kabar".
However, there are other unresolved issues. In particular, the department requires a vehicle with a driver for the transportation of blood components. Funding is also needed to provide necessary nutrition for parents who are with their child patients. Plans include creating a boarding house for children from the regions so they can stay nearby during the inter-cycle treatment period, which will help avoid potential complications and loss of medical supervision.
The minister's visit also opened up opportunities to address issues related to the supply of vital medications.
"We held a working meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Health and 'Kyrgyzpharmacy'. Almost all problems were resolved within two weeks, and the necessary medications were delivered to the department. I can say that overall we have most of the medications. Some difficulties arise only when certain drugs are not available from manufacturers. First-line medications are mostly in stock.
As for second-line treatments, they require significant financial resources. These medications are very expensive, and in many countries, they are not fully covered by the government," Stambekov added.
