The Acting Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Kanibek Dosmambetov, conducted an unexpected inspection at the pediatric oncology department of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health.

It was reported that during the visit he familiarized himself with the treatment process, the state of medical infrastructure, the drug supply system, and the work of support services. The minister also held discussions with the parents of patients, addressing current and systemic issues at the moment.

Parents raised important issues regarding the provision of medications, the availability and quality of drugs, as well as the timeliness of deliveries, which is critically important for the treatment of pediatric oncology diseases.

Particular attention was paid to the work of the laboratory, noting instances where parents had to turn to private institutions for necessary tests, including the determination of C-reactive protein levels and other indicators important for monitoring the condition of children during treatment.

The issue of ensuring blood components, their logistics, and timely delivery was also discussed. In this regard, the acting minister instructed to allocate specialized transport for the uninterrupted delivery of blood components and other medical needs related to the treatment of children in the department.

During the visit, issues regarding the procurement of medications were also discussed. Kanibek Dosmambetov emphasized that disruptions, lack of transparency, and ineffective mechanisms in the procurement system, especially concerning life-saving medications for children, are unacceptable. He noted that the current situation requires a systemic analysis and managerial decisions.

Issues of interdisciplinary interaction among doctors, the organization of consultations, as well as the conditions for the stay of children and their parents were also discussed. The head of the department emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to pediatric oncology, where medical, organizational, and social aspects should be considered together.

As a result of the visit, specific instructions were given to the leadership of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health and relevant departments of the Ministry of Health aimed at improving laboratory operations, ensuring the availability of necessary tests, enhancing the logistics of blood components, quality control of medications, and optimizing procurement processes.

Additionally, it was instructed to address the issues of nutrition for parents and create acceptable conditions for their stay, including the procurement of children's tables and the organization of a pharmacy point in the shortest possible time.

The acting minister also noted that, by the president's directive, the issue of constructing a specialized shelter for the temporary accommodation of parents of children with cancer undergoing long-term treatment at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health is being worked on.

The implementation of this project will create comfortable living conditions for families, reduce financial and social burdens, and improve access to highly specialized medical care.
