On December 16, Acting Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov made an unscheduled visit to the pediatric oncology department of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, as reported by the Ministry of Health's press service.

During his visit, he assessed the organization of treatment, the state of infrastructure, as well as the quality of medication supply and the work of support services. One of the key points was an open dialogue with the parents of the children, where the main issues of the system were discussed.

The parents of the patients raised important questions regarding medication supply, including the availability and quality of drugs, as well as the conditions and timelines for their delivery. This is particularly critical for the treatment of cancer in children.

The report notes that special attention was given to the work of the laboratory service. Parents mentioned the need to turn to private laboratories for tests, such as determining the level of C-reactive protein, which are important for monitoring their children's condition during treatment.

The issue of providing blood components, their delivery, and logistics was also discussed. In response, Kanibek Dosmambetov instructed to allocate a specialized vehicle for the effective transportation of blood components and other medical needs in the department.

Another important topic of the visit was the procurement of medicines. The minister emphasized that disruptions and opaque mechanisms in the procurement system are unacceptable, especially concerning life-saving drugs for children. He noted the necessity for a systematic analysis of the current situation and the adoption of management decisions.

In this regard, the acting minister announced the establishment of a commission for a comprehensive analysis of the work of the Department of Medicines and Medical Devices, as well as the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacia." The goal of the commission is to identify problem areas and develop recommendations for improving the efficiency and transparency of medication supply.

During the meeting, attention was also focused on interdisciplinary interaction among doctors, the organization of consultations, and the conditions for the stay of children and their parents. The minister noted that the treatment of cancer in children requires a comprehensive approach that takes into account medical, organizational, and social aspects.

As a result of the visit, specific instructions were given to the leadership of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health and the relevant departments of the Ministry of Health. These instructions are aimed at improving the work of the laboratory service, ensuring the availability of necessary tests, optimizing the logistics of blood components, and enhancing the quality control of medicines. It was also instructed to address the nutritional needs of parents and create comfortable conditions for their stay, including the purchase of children's tables and the organization of a pharmacy point in the building to avoid the need to go to distant pharmacies.

Additionally, Dosmambetov reported that work is currently underway on a project to build a specialized shelter for the temporary accommodation of parents of children with cancer undergoing long-term treatment at the NCMMH. This project will help create decent living conditions for families and improve access to highly specialized medical care.
