In Bishkek, there has been an increase in cases of ARVI and viral diseases among children. This was reported on December 10 by Aizada Orozbekova, a specialist at the City Children's Clinical Hospital for Emergency Medical Care, during a broadcast on "Birinchi Radio."

According to her information, the day before, 694 children visited the institution, of which 39 were hospitalized, while about 95% received recommendations for outpatient treatment at home.

Orozbekova emphasized the importance of parents visiting clinics for initial consultations, and in emergency situations, going directly to the emergency hospital. Hospitalization is necessary for children who cannot eat, suffer from vomiting, seizures, or are in serious condition.

Upon admission, sorters work with the children and their parents to assess the severity of their condition.

— If a child is in critical condition, they are immediately sent to the emergency department for temperature measurement, saturation checks, and examination by a doctor.

— If the condition is of moderate severity, parents are given a ticket and wait for their turn in the waiting room.

Although most visits are outpatient, some patients are admitted in serious conditions due to late visits or incorrect self-treatment.

Currently, there is one department in the hospital designated for receiving children with ARVI.

In November, the Ministry of Health issued a directive to repurpose the ENT department, urology, and thoracic department to accept patients with pneumonia and viral infections due to a lack of beds.

Orozbekova also noted that many cases of ARVI can progress to pneumonia, especially if parents seek help too late or misuse antibiotics.

After an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Health, the following decisions were made:

— to allocate 10 additional doctors for night shifts;

— to open 100 beds for patients with ARVI and pneumonia at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health;

— to additionally set up 100 places in the infectious diseases hospital.

According to the doctor, in the first three days of a viral illness, children's temperatures range from 37 to 38.5 degrees, accompanied by cough and runny nose.

If after three days the child's condition worsens, the cough intensifies, and they refuse to drink, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

The diagnosis of "pneumonia" is established only after a comprehensive examination:

— measuring saturation,

— examining the throat and lungs,

— X-ray (if necessary),

— laboratory tests.

Dr. Orozbekova noted that children have a hard time coping with Hong Kong flu. She recommended:

— avoiding mass events;

— wearing medical masks;

— adhering to a proper diet (liquid homemade food should be preferred),

— excluding fried foods and carbonated drinks.

If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, it is necessary to take antipyretics.

Antibiotics should only be prescribed by qualified specialists, Orozbekova emphasized. Self-medication can lead to complications such as rashes, reduced immunity, and frequent illnesses.

In severe cases, when a child has difficulty breathing, wheezing is heard, and appetite is significantly reduced, hospitalization, oxygen support, and intensive therapy are required.
