In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, he shared that he had planned ahead to make the celebration of his grandparents' 50 years of marriage memorable.
“My grandfather got married at 26, and my grandmother at 22. They were married on January 20, 1976. My sister and I planned everything in advance: first, we took them to a café, then to the movies. After the movie, we set up a special photo zone and brought them there. Grandfather and grandmother, not expecting such a surprise, were moved to tears. After all, they usually saw such things only in movies or over the phone. Passersby also watched with admiration.
Now it has become fashionable for guys to propose to girls this way. And when people see a couple that has been together for 50 years, everyone inevitably offers kind wishes,” he said.
According to him, his grandparents now live nearby in the city of Karakol. “Having received their blessing, I also want to find my partner and live a happy life until I’m a hundred,” says A. Akmatov.
As Almaz noted, the couple, who have been together for 50 years, are parents to five children, grandparents to 19 grandchildren, and great-grandparents to six great-grandchildren.
“Grandfather and grandmother say that we are a large family because both were teachers and worked for many years before retiring. Grandfather taught animal husbandry and veterinary medicine at a agricultural college and rose to the position of deputy director.
Grandmother worked as a primary school teacher at Ak-Bulun Secondary School in the Tyup district. Even now, her students keep in touch and visit her. If all goes well, we plan to gather all the children together, invite close and distant relatives, and hold a big celebration in the spring,” says A. Akmatov.
