In light of recent events related to the resignation of the head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of the Kyrgyz Republic, attempts by certain forces to compromise the activities of national security have begun to emerge in the media space. The information and interpretations being disseminated are one-sided and aimed at undermining public trust in state institutions. According to the GKNB press service, the agency's employees are acting under the guidance of the Supreme Commander of the KR.
According to the press service, the national security agencies of the KR perform their functions in strict accordance with the Constitution and the legislation of the country, relying on the principles of legality, accountability, and objectivity towards society. The main task of the agency remains the provision of state security, the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as countering threats such as terrorism, extremism, and corruption.
“We are confident that any questions and doubts should be considered exclusively within the framework of the law, based on facts and verified information. Attempts to undermine the reputation of state structures without providing convincing evidence harm not only the agency itself but also the overall level of trust in society,” the statement notes.
The GKNB calls on representatives of the public, the media, and high-ranking officials to refrain from harsh criticism of the agency's employees, who diligently and responsibly fulfill their duties. “Work to ensure the security of the country will continue consistently and purposefully in the interests of the people and the state,” the press service stated.
