In the Suzak district, in the rural district of Bagysh, the renaming of two settlements may be initiated. This was reported by the head of the rural district, Nursultan Tügöybekov.

According to Tügöybekov, at a recent public meeting, residents proposed changing the names of the villages Oktyabrskoye and Safarovka, and this was documented. “At meetings with residents, during budget hearings and public gatherings, we received urgent requests to change the names. This appeal was considered and brought to the session. The villagers noted that during the Soviet era, the state farm 'Druzhba' was located in the center of the village Oktyabrskoye, so they suggested preserving the historical name by translating it into Kyrgyz — Dostuk. The residents of Safarovka proposed a new name — Jangy-Küch (New Strength). The initiative was supported by the deputies of the rural council. Now this decision will be sent to the district, then to the region, and afterwards — to the Jogorku Kenesh,” he added.

The population of the rural district of Bagysh is 31,884 people.

The procedure for renaming settlements includes the following stages:

- the initiative can come from local residents, the rural administration, or the local council, usually involving a public meeting or hearing where the opinion of the majority is recorded.

- the decision of the deputies of the rural council.

- the rural or city council formulates an official resolution and submits the proposal to a higher level.

- consideration at the district or regional level.

- documents are coordinated through state administrations at the district and regional levels.

- then the proposal is submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, where historical, linguistic, and legal aspects of the name change are checked.

- the decision of the Jogorku Kenesh, which is approved by law or resolution.

- after that, the documents are submitted for the president's consideration, who, if approved, signs the corresponding law. The decision comes into effect only after its official publication.

In 2025, a decision was made in Kyrgyzstan to rename four rural districts and 13 villages.

Earlier, in the Issyk-Ata district, local residents initiated the renaming of the village Dmitrievka to Esirkemish, which sparked widespread discussion.
