The city of Manas, located in the Jalal-Abad region, received 128 quotas under the "social contract" program in 2023.

This information was announced by Nazira Jakypova, head of the city’s labor, social welfare, and migration department.

According to her, the process of accepting applications from those interested has now begun.

"This year, the quotas were provided earlier than in previous years. Currently, 16 citizens have submitted applications, of which 14 have been accepted by the working group, as they have business plans. Financial literacy courses are currently being conducted for these citizens. In 2022, our city was allocated about 130 quotas, and we successfully utilized them," noted N. Jakypova.

The project "Strengthening Social Assistance Programs and the Labor Market" is financed by the International Development Association, part of the World Bank, with a sum of 30 million dollars (loan). The aim of the project is to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis, which negatively impacts the purchasing power of the population; to provide jobs and income opportunities for families temporarily in difficult situations and for resilient groups of the population; as well as to implement structural measures to improve the social protection system, enhance the effectiveness of assistance to target groups, and develop professional skills among poor and vulnerable youth.

The loan is provided for a term of 50 years at zero interest.

The social contract strategy aims to support low-income families throughout the republic and in Bishkek (recipients of the "uy-bulogo komok" program). Social assistance is provided based on a social contract, the amount of which has increased from 100,000 soms to 150,000 soms.
