Bishkek City Hall: Jaramazan should not turn into begging

On February 27, a meeting was held at the Bishkek City Hall under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva, dedicated to the prevention of offenses among youth with the participation of all interested institutions.

During the discussion, measures were considered to strengthen control over ensuring that teenagers are not in public places in the evening and at night without adult supervision. Emphasis was also placed on the need for explanatory work with children and their parents, as well as increasing the responsibility of catering establishments where minors involved in begging are allowed to be present.

Additionally, during the meeting, it was decided to pay special attention to inspections of cafes and restaurants, and in case of violations, measures will be taken against such establishments in accordance with the law.

The Deputy Mayor noted that recently there have been increasing cases of children participating in Jaramazan and being in entertainment venues, as well as on roadways and intersections, which poses a danger to their lives. Furthermore, there are recorded instances of children persistently asking for money transfers via QR codes. “We respect cultural heritage and traditions; however, Jaramazan should not turn into begging. The safety of children must be a priority. Parents, please ensure that your children are not left unsupervised on the streets,” she emphasized.

As a result of the meeting, it was instructed to conduct joint raids involving juvenile affairs inspections and patrol service employees.

The Bishkek City Hall emphasizes that all work is aimed at protecting the rights and health of children and calls on parents to closely monitor the whereabouts of their children in the evening and at night.
