In an interview with the news agency "Vesti," the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, spoke about the new priorities of the legislative body and changes in the political system.
Support for the Presidential Course
As Mamataliyev noted, the main task of the parliament now is not to create an independent political agenda but to form a quality legislative framework for implementing the presidential strategy.
“The president is responsible for domestic and foreign policy, as well as for economic issues. If he has defined the course of development, our role as a legislative body is to support him,” he added.
The speaker emphasized that deputies should focus on creating laws, monitoring their implementation, and interacting with the population.
Transition to Digitalization
Mamataliyev announced the implementation of a significant administrative reform in the parliament. In the next one to two months, the Jogorku Kenesh plans to fully transition to digital management.
Digitalization will cover all areas of the parliament's work: from the development of bills to the conduct of committee meetings. It will also provide citizens the opportunity to contact deputies in an online format, which will be an important step towards increasing government transparency.
Strengthening Foreign Policy Relations with Russia
In the new political configuration, special attention is paid to developing relations with Russia. The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh confirmed that Russia remains a strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan, and work at the inter-parliamentary level will be significantly intensified in 2026.
The main focus will be on addressing the issues of labor migrants.
Mamataliyev emphasized the importance of active cooperation with the State Duma of Russia on bills that directly affect the lives of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia.
