Aibek Junushaliev, the Mayor of Bishkek, visited the sediment reservoir located in the Manka-Zhar area, where he met with local residents. This was reported by the press service of the capital's city hall.

During his visit, the mayor noted that there are currently no forecasts for mudflow processes in this area. He assured that the weather conditions do not pose a danger to the population and urban infrastructure, and the work of city services to monitor the situation continues.

In 2023-2024, due to heavy precipitation, cases of flooding were recorded in the residential areas of "Archa-Beshik," "Zher-Intymagy," and "Orok," according to the city hall.

As part of the conducted activities, 6,000 tons of waste were removed, two flood control dams with a total volume of 1,615 cubic meters were cleaned, and two new sediment reservoirs were built in the villages of Lower and Upper Orok, which can hold up to 42,000 cubic meters of water.

The municipality noted that thanks to the measures taken, flooding was prevented in 2025, and currently, more than 260 residential houses are protected from possible consequences of natural disasters.

At the end of the meeting, the mayor instructed to carry out cleaning of the irrigation network within the residential areas and to complete all planned works within the established deadlines.
